Language Arts / Writing Center: This center will focus on alphabet

recognition, phonic awareness, Reading Workshop, Sight Words, and

Writing Workshop.

 

 

Math Center: Through pattern blocks, Colors, Numbers, weaving, Counting

One-to-One, Sorting and a mulitude of small motor skills children will

challenge themselves to conquer math skills and concepts expected in the

Kindergarten curriculum.

 

Computer / Technology Center: Hot Dots, Leap Pads, Leapster, Enough Nabi 2

for individual student use, digital cameras and desk top computer

will allow our students to learn through a high tech venue.

 

Art Center: Shelves with endless positibilities.  Materials include

* Paints and Brushes

* Playdough and utensils

* Glue

* Markers, Crayons, and Colored Pencils

* Glitter

* Buttons

* Feathers

* Construction, Tissue Paper etc.

* Stickers

 

 

Dramatic Play Center:  An area that allows creativity and imagination to take flight.  We provide a variety of materials to enable our students to create their own world.  These items include but not limited to:

* A telephone

* Dishes, pots and pans, and play food are all stored in the cabinets underneath the sink and stove

* Dolls and Dress-Up Clothes

* Couch, Infant High Chairs, Infant Car Seat, Ironing Board, Table & chairs

* Pencils & notepads

 

Science Center: A variety of materials (microscopes, slides, magnifying glasses, sensory bottles, sea shells, skeletons, prisms, light box, nature items) will allow our students to engage in hands on discovering opportunities. As you watch the school year progess, you will notice the science center will transform to reflect each changing season and / or holiday.

 

Block Center: A wonderful center that allows creativity, imagination and socialization.  With a variety (different shapes, sizes and types) of blocks, vehicles and road signs, this center will provide our students with opportunities to develop oral language skills as well as problem solving and creativity. Traffic signs in the block center provides a print rich environment for our students as well as offer opportunities for identifying environmental print.
