Traci Keyes, Educational Director and Teacher

 

Hello Parents,

 

My name is Traci Keyes, and I am the Educational Director and Teacher of Grace Academy.  Grace Academy is a high-tech pre-k that embraces the fact that our little ones are thrust into a world of technology from the time they are able to use their fingers.  We want to use their desire to investigate and to embrace the need to learn.  By using our Ipads, computers, digital cameras, and other fun and interactive technology media, we are preparing our little minds to enter kindergarten ready and eager to lead the way in their new classroom.

 

Of all of the ages that I could reach out to, why prek?  Well that is easy.  I have been in education for over 25 years.  I’ve have had experience with ages from infancy to fifth grade, and out of all those ages, 3-5 year olds capture my heart.  Their curiosity, desire to learn, willingness to try new things, and the love of getting dirty are, dare I say, my kindred souls.

 

I have a degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Early Childhood Education.  I have had over 20 years in the primary level and 5 years in the elementary level.  I am MSDE certified, and I am CPR/First Aid Certified.  I have spent my life dedicated to finding “out of the box” ways of learning, and that is why I am teaching at Grace Academy.  My unique style of thinking and the use of technology will create the “updated” version of the “out of the box” thinking I strive for.

 

I look forward to working with you and your children to prepare them for tomorrow by teaching them to the world of technology today.

Over 40 years ago, I fell in love with teaching 3-4 year olds when I was hired to work with Head Start.  Some years later, after my divorce, I was no longer able to support my two daughters on my Head Start salary, so I was forced to give up teaching for a living.  However, that did not quelch my desire to work with young children.  I have since taught Sunday School and Bible School, always the 3-4 year olds.

 

My role at Grace Academy is to provide needed admin support to free Traci up to create exciting programs and work with the kids.  As a team, it is our goal to have the most exciting, most up-to-date certified prekindergarten in Frederick.  (It is our long range vision to have the most exciting, most up-to-date primary school in Frederick!)

 

 

 

 

OUR SCHOOL

 

Grace Academy is a newly opened Pre-K school in which technology meets the calming environment of total serenity.  In this environment children will learn the 9 domains of early childhood education.

Our curriculum corresponds with the Maryland Department of Education curriculum benchmarks for Frederick County Public Schools.

 

Our goal is to prepare our students for their kindergarten year.  To fully enable them to enter the school year with confidence, knowledge, skills and problem solving strategies to handle their educational goals.

 

Classes: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 

Free Parking available for drop off and pick up.
